Providing the quick power that only a big-bore two-stroke can deliver, this versatile motocross machine has won diverse events - from the last AMA cc National Motocross Championship, to the grueling Baja in which KX teams scored nine straight victories. The KIPS valves retard exhaust port timing at low rpm to increase low-end torque, then advance the timing as rpm rises to increase top-end power. Within the KIPS is an automatic decompression system that makes starting the big-bore engine easy by bleeding off compression at low engine cranking speeds. A five-speed transmission delivers the KX’s tremendous power to the rear wheel, which features two bearings on the drive chain side of the hub for added durability. The entire engine assembly rests in a high tensile steel frame with race-proven geometry that provides excellent turning and unmatched stability. Lightweight aluminum is used in the swingarm and linkage to reduce unsprung weight and provide quick suspension response.
